Our 4 Bedroom home sits in the Upper Kalihi Valley in Honolulu along the Kalihi Stream off the Like Like highway which is 5 minutes from the airport. This home is central to all things Oahu and 15 minutes to Waikiki and 5 minutes to Kaneohe
I am originally from Portland and have lived here for 10 years, my wife is from Milan, Italy. The stream runs behind the home in the backyard and has a hidden gem a mile up that is still a secret. High speed internet, Cable, and Parking is free. The room has a queen size bed, ceiling fan, cable television, spacious closet, and a private keyed entrance. The bathroom is directly across from your room. We are near the end of a road so there isn’t any street noise nearby. Crickets and running water are the only sounds you’ll hear while sleeping. Of course you’ll have access to our morning coffee and kitchen and fridge. Toddler Bella is up at 8am. I have 2 surfboards that can be used at your expense if carelessness occurs. We also have most anything you’ll need for water or beach activities including umbrellas, body boards, beach towels, coolers and ice.

A SHARED area of our home, downstairs where the office is located. NOT PRIVATE – but feels private and cozy. You are sharing the bathroom with our eldest (26yo) son who resides downstairs in an adjoining (to the office kitchen area) bedroom. He enters and exits through the garage area so it is very unlikely that you’ll run into him unless you intend to hang out in that area all day. He works nights at Roy’s Kahana and is a late riser because of this. The stairs and front entrance are located in this space, though when we have guests we use the side entrance off our lanai in the mornings to give you privacy. Just wanting to be very clear as we’ve had some people inquire about the amount of privacy afforded in this space.
A VERY comfortable, (we’ve slept on it!), Aerobed mattress – blown up to your specifications. It’s the very cool (read = expensive) elevated kind with ultra comfy cotton sheets. This bed can be put together on the fly for your needs.
No minimum stay required for this place! Flying into Maui late? Flying out of Maui early in the morning? We’re a quick 15 minutes from the airport but a world away. Need a cheap sleep? Great transitional space on your way to your luxury hotel at the beach. We have a 3 night MAXIMUM on this space as it is used daily by family. The intention of the space is to give folks an alternative to paying for additional nights at a hotel, when you’re departing early in the am from Kahului. Or if you arrive on the last flight in and don’t want to cough up the $300 for that first night at a hotel when you’ll not be able to enjoy all the amenities!
If you need space for additional days, we do accommodate on a per situation basis, so please ask. Also, make sure to check out our other listing upstairs – (private room/bath) it may suit you for a longer stretch!
Located in our downstairs office space with a shared bathroom, (full shower and bath) and a kitchenette – a shared, full size fridge to store your snacks/drinks etc, a microwave, cutlery, dishes, a kettle for tea or instant coffee, and a bar size sink for clean up! Plus we’ll always a have a touch of aloha and goodies on arrival to welcome to our island and share her bounty.
We will not be able to provide upstairs access to the rest of the house interior as we will have additional guests + our family, making for tight times! You are, of course, free to enjoy our outdoor lanai, which is located upstairs and around the corner from your room or hang out in our front and/or back yard sitting areas. (Obviously we love to chat and entertain, but want you to enjoy as much privacy as you’d like and as can be offered in a shared/open space – so please feel free to join us on the lanai for a sunset cocktail or beer and a nice round of aloha and conversation…)
Naturally, we’ll provide the clean sheets and bath towels. (If you need beach towels please ask!)
High speed wireless internet included. Street parking.
*The room can get a bit noisy once our 4 year old daughter and 2 pugs have risen in the mornings, (generally around 6am), so if you are an early riser – this shouldn’t be a bother!

BUDGET FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATIONS AND SHORT TERM ROOM RENTAL!
The Waip`o Hostel Kai Room is a cute, bright room with a comfortable queen size bed. It is part of the Waipi`o Hostel.
Waipi`o Hostel is located in beautiful Kukuihaele just one mile from the majestic Waipio Valley. It is a 60 minute drive from Hilo and a 90 minute drive from Kona. The hostel is in a rustic plantation house that was owned and inhabited by a plantation supervisor for 75 years. Our rooms are simple, yet nicely decorated and clean. You will enjoy the wonderful ocean view and the many fruit and macadamia nut trees on the property. We are a “green” facility which is cleaned with non-toxic cleaning products. Our linens and towels are laundered with nontoxic laundry detergent.
Our rates are $35 per night for one person and $45 per night for 2 people sharing a room plus tax.

Cozy, studio cottage on a quiet, dead end street on the Big Island of Hawaii (not Oahu where Honolulu and Waikiki are). Very quiet, no traffic noises, surrounded by lush green jungle. Four blocks from ocean cliffs (sorry, not safe for swimming but terrific view). Cottage is located at the top white dot on the right at the very top edge of the aerial view.
The studio has a queen size bed, cork floor, new bathroom and kitchen area. Includes wireless high speed Internet, cable TV, DVD player, new quiet ceiling fan, refrigerator with large separate freezer, coffee maker, blender, microwave, toaster, electric tea kettle, utensils, dishes etc. Please note there is no stove but there is a propane BBQ grill.
Linen, bath towels, and beach towels are included as well as a cooler for day trips. Extra pillow in closet.
A phone is available in the main house for outgoing calls. Cigarette smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property.
Covered parking area to protect your vehicle (and you) from rain and sun.
Nearby attractions include flowing red lava, the Hot Ponds, Kapoho tide pools, Lava Tree State Park, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Kaimu black sand beach, and the quaint village town of Pahoa with several small but excellent places to eat including a health food store. Wonderful farmers market on Sundays.
$55 a night, $350 a week, $950 a month, plus one time cleaning fee of $45.
If you want to save money, you are welcome to clean the studio yourself upon ARRIVAL and then there will be no cleaning fee. If you opt to clean yourself, you make the bed when you arrive, remove the sheets and empty the garbage when you depart. Floors will be swept but not washed, you do that yourself if needed. Must be arranged in advance.

We’re situated on a coffee farm, surrounded by lush tropical trees, fruit, flowers, lots of wild birds. On clear nights the sky is amazing…Milky Way looks like you can touch it. We are near the end of a road so there isn’t any street noise nearby. Crickets and running water are the only sounds you’ll hear while sleeping.
The room has it’s own refrigerator. Of course you’ll have access to our morning coffee and kitchen and fridge. Toddler Bella is up at 8am. I have 2 surfboards that can be used at your expense if carelessness occurs. We also have most anything you’ll need for water or beach activities including coolers, towels, umbrellas, and ice.
The pictures are of the large 10 window off the kitchen and carport. We also have a third bedroom off the hallway that can be booked although the calendar appears full, so send me a message before you pass us by.
We share our house with our guests and don’t expect you to stay quietly huddled away without disturbing us. All of us are social, and frequently cook and share meals with travelers. If you prefer to stay private that’s ok too.
You actually don’t pay a thing until you’ve already stayed here one night, so rest assured you are protected.
Because our prices aren’t outrageous, we receive a lot of inquiries. I have had long personal discussions with people who haven’t booked and I’ve had to tell them sorry because someone else booked first. Please don’t make me have to tell someone no, it doesn’t feel good.
Koʻolau Range is a name given to the fragmented remnant of the eastern or windward shield volcano of the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu. It is not a mountain range in the normal sense, because it was formed as a single mountain called Koʻolau Volcano. Our house is directly above Honolulu.
